Feeding a squirrel - at 200mph

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Humans may not like fruitcake, but apparently squirrels do.  It’s 70% fruit and nuts after all!  We wanted to give you a little behind-the-scenes peek at how one actually fashions ammunition out of fruitcake.  We then decided to demonstrate the power of the Omega 380 by firing into the trunk of a large tree.  A lucky squirrel (who was almost very very unlucky) happened along at just the right time.  Here’s what happened…

William Tell hated fruitcake too

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Since the guys at Omega 380 fashioned a new aiming device for their fruitcake cannon, we decided to see just how accurate a 23 foot long fruitcake artillery piece could be.  We all know the tale of William Tell and the apple, but an arrow just seemed too easy.  Omega 380 team member Josh Deupree bravely volunteered his body to science for this experiment.  I think this goes without saying, but don’t try this at home! Be sure to check back soon for our next Operation Fruitcake episode!

Video killed the radio star, but TV is no match for fruitcake

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Have you ever dreamed of firing that fruitcake Aunt Edna gave you nearly 1/3 of a mile?  How about firing one at over 200mph at an old TV?  When researching the best ways to dispose of unwanted fruitcake, the folks here at Operation Fruitcake came across the Omega 380 Fruitcake Launch System.  Recognizing its obvious brilliance, we knew we needed to show it to the world.  Move over Edison, there’s a new group of inventors in town. Be sure to check back often for more unexpected ways to dispose of the dreaded fruitcake.  PS, don’t try this at home

Learn more about the Manitou Springs Fruitcake Toss

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Manitou Springs is a wonderful little town that shares our dislike of fruitcake, located right at the base of Pikes Peak.  Home of the famous annual Manitou Springs Fruitcake Toss competition, they were gracious enough to let us use their town to film our videos with Omega 380.  Want to know more about the town of Manitou Springs, Colorado and its famous fruitcake toss competition?  Here we have an interview with Leslie Lewis of the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce.
